Spleen Fan Art! 05/26/2010
Being someone's creative subject is very flattering and quite and honor. I wanted to share a few of the awesome Spleen inspired art pieces that have been sent to me... First, a sexy Winged Spleen! I wish I looked that good in my corsets Butterfly! This one is by far the most unique - besides the wings, I'm wearing pants! How awesomely creepy is that!! :) A very intense sketch by my friend Paul I was a reference model for a comic book and this is a guest artist pin-up of that character - a tattooed, crime fighting, hottie magician! I dug this out of my portfolio the other day and decided to share Is it bad that I often draw myself? I suppose it's because I'm always a conveniently available subject. I don't even think of the drawings as "me" but when I start drawing without any particular subject in mind, they often end up looking that way (well, sexier, better looking versions of me anyways!) When visiting a new place, I seek out it's history by admiring it's architecture, monuments and cemeteries. These things are like still moments in time, allowing us to glimpse the past. I love monuments and those dedicated to the departed are some of the most exquisite that man can render. I took these photos a few years ago in Vicksburg, Mississippi, in a tiny cemetery just outside of the Vicksburg National Military Park. The angel you see pictured many times is my favorite. She's so hauntingly beautiful. Much more after the jump... Celebrating your BFF 04/30/2010
Good friends are hard to come by and we should take little moments everyday to appreciate them. In our modern, tech-savvy world it is easy to communicate - so easy that we take it for granted. Often times for all the words we type, text and speak, we "say" very little. Take time to let your friends know how much you care about them - pick up the phone to say hi, write them an actual letter and drop it in the mail, or make time for a real visit. It doesn't have to be much. On the other hand, if you DO feel like giving it your all, why not show your friend you care by sharing some of your talents? Are you a writer? Write them a poem. or story An artist? Draw or paint a picture just for them. A crafter? Make them something personal. A cook/baker? Whip up their favorite food. Just love to have fun? Plan a night out for you both... and so on. I know it's really obvious advice, but sometimes we forget that what we can GIVE is a lot better than what we can BUY So tell me - What is your favorite way to celebrate your friends? (This is my own little tribute to my BFF - Scarlett St. Vitus!) | Who is Spleen?
