Do you agree?

Me and Scarlett - whiter shades of pale!

Spectral Cosmetics certainly does - the soon-to-be-launched makeup line is dedicated to those typically elusive alabaster shades. With the tag line "Pale is beautiful, and it's time to embrace it" they certainly caught my attention.

The blurb from their unfinished website piques my interest even further...

"Tired of searching for obscure cosmetic products that match your fair skin tone? Spectral Cosmetics is developing a line of products that showcase and enhance your complexion to its full potential."

One of my fantasies has always been of creating makeup for the ethereally pale. Besides the lack of lighter foundation and concealer shades, one shopping for makeup can't escape the onslaught of powder, cream, gel, and liquid bronzers and self tanning products put out by every brand under the sun.
Don't get me wrong, I love a good bronzer now and then, but paleness is often treated like acne or wrinkles - everyone assumes it's something you want to hide... and  most cosmetic brands create products accordingly. I'm excited to see a new company with a desire to go in a different direction (...and I'm always excited for a reason to buy more makeup!)

It's important that we remember every skin tone is beautiful and we should each embrace and celebrate what we have!

I'm really looking forward to the launch of this line! If you are as well, Click Here to sign up to be updated when the site goes live!

The secret to being spooky but still blending in... 12/12/2010

... is apparently a nude lip!

I've seen black rimmed eyes paired with nude lips time and time again so I don't know what took me so long to try it! I admit that when I do a dramatic look on my eyes (which is often) I do the same with the rest of my face. I can't help it, restraint is not my forte. This results in a full-on-glam face that's more appropriate for the stage than a lunch with Mom. In an attempt to walk the line, I followed the oft uttered suggestion of "balance" and did this look for work. On a whim I decided to snap a few shots with my phone just as I parked my car and I'm glad I did because they'll remind me to do a nude lip more often. I quite like it!
